Updates your Joy without touching your licence or settings
Your Joy didn't tell us which firmware it's running, so we can't see whether this update is newer than what's already on it.
Try this first: press the Reset button on your Joy, then click Retry connection. It often works on the second try.
You can also go ahead without the check. If you do:
Ready to update without the version check. Your licence and settings will be kept, and we'll ask you to confirm once more before anything is written to your Joy.
Detection listens for a bridge hello, then the boot banner, then the legacy REPL, for 7 seconds. Firmware 2.2.18+ reports its version on the hello frame; older builds have to be caught from the banner, which needs the board to actually re-boot. The raw serial traffic and every step of the update are logged to the browser console (F12) if support needs them.
Continuing does not change the write. The app-only
_update.bin goes to the factory partition
at 0x10000; there is no full-flash path and no chip
erase, so nvs (0x9000 β licence, Zigbee
registry, mg24_fw_crc) and storage
(0x410000 β LittleFS config) are untouched. A
MicroPython-era unit needs a full image from 0x0 and
will not boot from an app-only write; recovery is a cable and
esptool.
